Our news feeds are filled with inspirational female athletes and stories today to celebrate International Women’s Day, however there was one story in particular that got our attention. Nike have official announced that they will be releasing a sport hijabs for Muslim women athletes.
Such a product acquaints to a tiny effort on the part of such a large company, however the impact and statement that makes in the support of muslim female athletes from one of the worlds largest sports brands brands should not be underestimated.

This announcement comes on the back of their culturally rich, empowering campaign that pays homage to Middle Eastern athletes and explores the challenges young Arab women aspiring to a professional sporting career may face.

The embracement of strong female athletes and role models by Nike based on their performance and achievements and not their aesthetic, race, origin or anything else is one that we hope to see smaller brands follow their example.
